Bildungsurlaub is a legal right to take paid leave for educational purposes. During this time, you can attend an officially recognised course, such as our General English, Business English, Exam Preparation, or Personalised programmes.
Who can take part?
- Full-time employees in Germany are entitled to educational leave. If you are employed part-time, you can still apply, although your entitlement may be reduced proportionally based on your working hours.
- The course must be officially recognised in your federal state.

Course selection
To qualify for Bildungsurlaub, your course must include at least 30 lessons per week. In some federal states, the number of classroom hours can be reduced, as long as you include self-study, workshops, cultural activities, or project work as part of your learning.

- Submit to Your Employer – file the formal leave request at least 6 weeks in advance.
- Book the Course – once approved, complete your enrolment and arrange your trip.
