As soon as you want to put your skills to the test, you can sit the IELTS in Malta. The exam is computer-delivered at the official test centre in Valletta, with test dates available throughout the month and results released in just 1 to 5 days.
About IELTS
IELTS measures your ability to communicate in English across the four language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing. For people who intend to study or work where English is the first language, IELTS can be a crucial qualification.
There are two versions of the test. IELTS Academic is for university study and higher education, while IELTS General Training is for work, experience, migration and everyday English. Your teacher will help you decide which one fits your goals.
IELTS is recognised by more than 12,500 organisations in over 140 countries, and is regarded as one of the most important requirements for non-native speakers who wish to enter a university worldwide.
You will normally need a score of 6.0 or higher to join a university in the UK, while universities elsewhere need to be checked individually.

- It's a computer-based exam The listening, reading and writing tasks are done on screen. The speaking test is face-to-face with a real examiner.
- One-Skill Retake option Improve your score in a single skill without having to retake the full exam.
- Results in 1–5 days Fast turnaround, useful when you have study, visa or work deadlines to meet.
- Digital certificate provided Your official result is issued digitally and can be shared directly with institutions.
- Book early Registration closes between 8 and 5 days before the test date, depending on the session.

Placement test
One week before you arrive, we'll email you (or your agent will) a copy of our placement test, so keep an eye out for that. This test helps you and us to understand your English level and decide the best class for you, so as to ensure the optimal learning experience.
To be accepted on an exam preparation course, students must have a level of English that is between Intermediate B1 and Advanced C1, as described in the CEFR guidelines.
The accepted levels are:
- Intermediate = B1
- Upper-Intermediate = B2
- Advanced = C1
